Who we are
Our website address is: https://sdsswellesley.com.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Third-Party Tracking and Pixels
In addition to standard website cookies, we use third-party tracking technologies, such as the Meta Pixel and Google Analytics tags. Third parties, including Meta and Google, may use cookies, web beacons, and other storage technologies to collect or receive information from our website and elsewhere on the internet. They use that information to provide measurement services and to target ads.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. However, we may share your information with trusted third-party service providers and advertising partners to help us operate our website, conduct our business, and deliver relevant marketing communications to you. This includes sharing data with platforms such as Google and Meta (Facebook/Instagram) for the purpose of measurement services and targeted advertising.
Advertising and Custom Audiences
We may use the personal information you provide to us (such as your email address or phone number) to deliver targeted advertisements to you on third-party platforms. To do this, we participate in programs like Google Customer Match and Meta Custom Audiences. We may securely share a hashed (anonymized) version of your contact information with these platforms. The platforms match this anonymized data against their own user databases to display our advertisements to you or to create “lookalike” audiences of users with similar interests.
Children’s Privacy and Protection of Minors
While we offer martial arts programs for children, we are deeply committed to protecting the privacy of our youngest students and comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
We do not knowingly collect, use, sell, or share Personally Identifiable Information (PII) of children under the age of 13 for marketing or targeted advertising purposes.
When utilizing third-party advertising platforms, such as Google Customer Match or Meta Custom Audiences, we strictly and exclusively use the contact information provided by the adult parent or legal guardian (such as the parent’s email address or phone number). No child’s name, age, birthdate, or other identifying data is ever exported to, or shared with, these advertising platforms.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Your Choices and Opting Out of Targeted Advertising
You have the right to opt out of the collection and use of your information for ad targeting.
- Google: You can opt out of Google’s use of cookies or device identifiers by visiting Google’s Ad Settings.
- Meta (Facebook/Instagram): You can adjust your ad preferences through your Facebook settings at Facebook Ad Preferences.
- General: You can generally opt out of receiving targeted ads from third-party advertisers and ad networks who are members of the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) or who follow the Digital Advertising Alliance’s Self-Regulatory Principles for Online Behavioral Advertising by visiting the opt-out pages on the [suspicious link removed] and DAA website.
If you wish to be excluded from our specific Custom Audience lists, please contact us directly at wellesley@sdssofma.com, and we will remove your contact information from our advertising uploads.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
